UEFA cancel Champions League trophy lift after confirming Terry could do it
Just hours after confirming that Chelsea’s John Terry could life the Champions League trophy despite being suspended for the final, they have followed the FA in cancelling the ceremony to avoid the risk of him getting his mug in the picture at all.
The FA cancelled the handshakes before the match against QPR this weekend because of sympathy for the QPR players who would be obliged to touch him, even empathising with Joey Barton.
The racism allegations against Terry were also a concern.
A UEFA spokesman spoke on behalf of the Champions League trophy: “The trophy has been lifted by players from all cultures and backgrounds over the years.
“For legal reasons we think it better if we eliminate every chance of John Terry getting his grubby mits on it.”

Haha, at this point you could just say “John Terry” and people would shake their heads and laugh.
They might shake their heads, but they wouldn’t shake hands!
